Reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being yourself.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, emotional challenges, and difficult life experiences. I support clients who may be struggling with anxiety, overwhelming emotions, relationship challenges, life transitions, or the effects of stressful or traumatic experiences.
My approach is calm, patient, and supportive. I focus on building trust and helping clients feel comfortable expressing themselves, understanding their emotions and experiences, and developing practical, healthy ways of coping.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in intensive case management roles supporting vulnerable populations. This experience strengthened my understanding of how trauma and difficult life experiences can affect our emotions, relationships, and everyday lives.
I take a flexible, supportive approach to counselling and meet each client where they are. I aim to provide a welcoming, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, respected, and supported as you navigate the challenges you’re facing.

Hello! My name is Natasha Carville and I am a registered clinical counsellor living and working on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen people. I have lived in the Victoria area for over 20 years and completed my Masters of Counselling at the University of Victoria in 2016.
I have been working with adults, teens, couples, and families in both the private and non-profit sector for almost 10 years, focusing on navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, substance misuse, life transitions, relationship challenges, mood concerns, women’s concerns and more.
My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and strengths-based. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship can be an important part of healing and meaningful change, and I strive to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported.
Depending on your needs and goals, I may incorporate EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Together, we can explore what you’re experiencing, recognize and build on your strengths, develop practical coping and communication skills, and work toward changes that feel meaningful to you.

My path to becoming a counsellor has been shaped by lived experience and a deep curiosity about how we see ourselves, relate to others, and navigate our lives. Born in South Africa and raised across the UK and British Columbia, moving between cultures alongside early family challenges shaped my understanding of safety, belonging, and adaptation.
Through my own personal growth, yoga, and counselling, I came to understand how our experiences can create protective patterns that help us through difficult or uncertain times, but may eventually begin to feel limiting. This journey led me to counselling and gave me a genuine appreciation for what it takes to seek greater connection, self-understanding, and change.
In our work together, we may explore the stories, relationships, expectations, and environments that have shaped you. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, anti-oppressive, and welcoming of both neurodivergent and neurotypical ways of experiencing the world. I also integrate somatic and nervous-system practices, helping you notice and understand responses that can sometimes be difficult to put into words.
I don’t believe therapy is about becoming happier, more productive, or more “put together.” Life naturally includes discomfort alongside joy, and there is room for all of it—including the parts of ourselves we may have learned to hide.
I meet each person with curiosity, compassion, and respect for the fullness of their lived experience. Together, we can slow things down, make space for what is present, build greater self-trust, and create more choice in how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you.

Welcome to Trueself Counselling
I’m Jessa, founder of Trueself Counselling, a growing counselling practice supporting children, teens, adults, couples, and families across British Columbia.
At Trueself, our goal is to provide compassionate, approachable, and individualized counselling where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported. Our team brings different areas of experience, therapeutic approaches, and perspectives, allowing clients to find a counsellor who feels like the right fit for their needs.
About Jessa
As the founder of Trueself Counselling, I continue to work directly with clients while also supporting and growing our team of associate counsellors.
My own counselling practice focuses on supporting adults, teens, and young adults experiencing anxiety, stress, burnout, self-doubt, relationship challenges, people-pleasing, and significant life transitions.
My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental. I believe meaningful change begins when you feel truly heard, understood, and accepted. Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, strengthen practical coping strategies, and work toward meaningful change that aligns with your values and goals.
